Kim McLean…

A Passionate Teacher, Scholar, Author, and Musician

Pastor Kim McLean is a gifted teacher, scholar, author, and musician with a passion for helping people find a loving relationship with God and achieving wholeness in body, soul, and mind through Christ and the fellowship of the faith community. Rev. Dr. Kim McLean holds an MA in Religion and a Doctorate in Leadership from Trevecca University in Nashville and has been an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene since 2009.

She has been Associate Pastor at two other churches and worship leader for several churches. Additionally, she wrote the music and led songwriting teams for a large international women’s conference called Come to the Fire for 10 years. Kim McLean also created the songwriting curriculum at Trevecca University and taught in the Music Program for 17 years.

Accomplished Songwriter and Artist

With over 400 songs recorded, Pastor Kim McLean has garnered numerous accolades in the music industry, including a Dove Award for Gospel Song of the Year, ASCAP and NSAI awards, and Grammy and Juno nominations. As an indie artist, she has won Song of the Year honors for best Americana/Folk song from the Just Plain Folk organization out of 800,000 entries.

Kim McLean has also co-authored the recently released book “A Song and a Prayer” with Loretta Lynn. This 30-day Biblical devotional book is inspired by Loretta Lynn’s songwriting sessions with Kim McLean and offers a unique blend of spiritual insights and musical inspiration.

 

Artist and Producer

As an artist, Kim McLean has achieved a #1 Inspirational Country Hit (ICMA), performed a duet with Dolly Parton (Angels and Eagles), and was featured on the Gene Autry Tribute Album alongside Vince Gill and Marty Stewart. Her country releases have found success in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Australia.

As a producer, Kim McLean has worked with indie artists, gospel artists, and major labels, helping develop young artists and writing their signature hits. Artists she has produced include Robin English (Sony), Lisa Brokop (Curb), Jennifer Hanson (Capitol), and more.

Film and Television

Kim McLean’s songs have been featured on shows like As The World Turns, ABC’s Hope & Faith, NBC’s West Wing, CBS’ Cold Case, and several indie films. She is also a talented studio acoustic guitar player and background vocalist, contributing to projects by Vanguard, MCA/Universal, Curb, Sony, and Daywind.

Publishing and Legacy

Kim McLean has been a staff songwriter since 1986, working with an impressive array of companies including Little Big Town, New Haven, Centergy, E.M.I. Music Publishing, King Lizard, Jody Williams Music, Nick N Ash Music/Paul Worley, Skyline Music, and Sony. Her catalog is retained at Sony, E.M.I. (now Sony), and Ole’ Music (now Anthem), where she is listed as a Legacy Songwriter. Recently, she has focused on developing her own publishing catalog, Kim McLean Music.

  • Beautiful Goodbye – Jennifer Hanson: A co-write that topped CMT’s video charts and was a best-selling single upon release. Also recorded by U.K. talk show icon Cilla Black.
  • Count Your Blessing – Recorded over a hundred times, including on the Cracker Barrel Gaither Collection. NSAI winner and Grammy nominee.
  • All We Ever Find – Recorded by Tim McGraw on his Dancehall Doctors CD, selling over 6 million units. Featured in the film Black Cloud.
  • Guess We Shouldn’t Talk About That Now – Recorded by soul diva Bettye Lavette, contributing to Grammy-nominated albums.
  • Elisabeth – Billy Gilman’s follow-up single to One Voice, with a chart-topping video on CMT.
  • Forever Everyday – Lee Ann Womack’s single that became the most added song in country upon release.
  • Harmless Heart – Trisha Yearwood’s recording on her Inside Out album, co-written with Liz Rose.
  • Hey Do You Know Me – Co-written with Lisa Brokop, nominated for Juno Awards. Also recorded by Eve Selis.
  • Faith Hope & Love – Co-written with Lisa Brokop, recorded by gospel favorite Misty Freeman and contemporary Christian artist Nicole Nordeman.
  • No Stone to Throw (The Maggie Song) – Recorded by Sierra, a Contemporary Christian classic.

Other notable contributions include songs for Kathie Lee Gifford’s Lullaby Collection, Mamie Van Doren’s anthology, and Go Tell, recorded by Gaither Homecoming and the Air Force Marching Band.
